Welcome to the first of many full moon tarot spreads to come!  We will be featuring a new tarot spread that will reflect the energy of each full moon every single month.  These spreads can be used to divine what energies you must personally overcome to maximize each full moon.

So let us begin!  What will we be learning about ourselves this month?  The ever cyclical Hero's Journey.

There is always an experience of seeking something higher than the self that is attached to the Zodiac sign Sagittarius.  The hero finds the courage to leave their home and venture out to find a great vision that they can bring back to their people.  This great myth is perpetuated in every single culture on the planet, and for great reason; we are all truly seeking to have those moments of transcendence that evolve us past our current stagnant state.

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter, who is the Lord of Bliss and Joy.  What does this tell us?  Follow your bliss and you will find your higher vision.

I've been advised by the survivors of my Legal Team Thunderdome 2011 that I should avoid further "Libel" and "Defamation of Character" when I talk about Eros, lest I end up with more "Lawsuits", so this one will be short and... well, maybe not quite sweet, but I will endeavor to try and lie on my ex's behalf. Hey, one man's slander is another man's artistic license!

Anyhow, hes moving from Capricorn into Aqua. Now, if you're anything like me, you have noticed a distinct dearth of romantic prospects as of late. You've probably also noticed how much you have gotten done without the distractions! But alas- all work and no play makes Jack troll hookup apps every half hour with no avail, thus taking his self confidence down several pegs and slowly giving him a psychological complex that bleeds over into other facets in his life (like his work), causing him to end up living in a van down by the river, subsisting on a steady diet of government cheese. Don't be like Jack.

You see, its Spring. Mostly. This has a certain affect on us poor humans. We cant help it. When we're kids, we want to escape the monotony and get back out into the world, exploring and playing in the sun- As adults, this becomes far more about playing behind closed doors since our lives are already empty, monotonous and devoid of all meaning. It's the little distractions that take the edge off and make life tolerable. We chase it, and it is fun! Its a nice way to keep our minds off of the gaping maw of our own mortality, looming over our heads.

The challenge of this transit is that you have been so focused on what you are building, you have developed tunnel vision and can see nothing else beyond your obligations. You have sacrificed all other concerns to make your dreams a reality. You have retreated within yourself, and you have hidden away, just you and your work. Now it is time to take a short break, look away from your screens, and get back out into the world! For some of us that means going to chase down trade in terrible bars with awful performers and have too much to drink. For others it is making an effort to connect with a partner who is feeling neglected and put upon. Whatever. Just get yourself out of your office and get into the bedroom.

Gosh, haven't we all felt the shadow of this transit the past couple of days? Jesus fuck. This, along with this past weekend's sensual moon in Taurus, our current sexy Venus in Pisces, the mighty presence of passionate Mars in Saggo, and the pounding of hooves from fire hot Aries in the distance (helloooo spring) are making things electric.

*takes deep breath* Anyway...

Aquarians tend to be severely misunderstood. They call the water-bearer heartless, alien, off-beat, and contrary. They say she is a stubborn ice queen, prepared to dissect each of your layers until she can arrive at some self deluded state of "knowing." What they don't understand about Aquarius is that she feels TOO much. She feels everything and everyone all the time, and must place a wall up or she will swallow everything up like the sea. She is the veins, the rivers, the tributaries pumping from the passionate, lion heart of Leo. Her eroticism is all encompassing. Her love is the force of the entire planet.

You know, there is something oddly sexy about all of these misconceptions. Who doesn't like the hot loner coasting through town on their way to distant lands? Aquarius is a visitor from somewhere far beyond here, and their brand of love making is strange and exciting. We can see it in their mannerisms, their likes and dislikes, their eccentric way of communication. They are not from here, and we are intrigued. And our earthly ways are intriguing to them as well. They really just want to know how everything feels, how everything tastes, and are all for the experimentation between pleasure and pain.

"What if I do this..."

King of experimentation, Aqua is the scientist with laser eyes who inspects your every frac(tal)tional movement for all of your soft spots. The water-bearers are represented by the Angel (or perfect human), perched high above in the clouds, observing us mere mortals as we go about our business of flesh. The eroticism of distance. For Aqua, the mind is flesh and eroticism starts there. When the angels saw the flesh based humans (in all their indulgent Taurean flavors), they could not help but fall down to earth. Not even angels can resist Eros.

People like to say the sun is in detriment when it is in Aquarius. Why would they say such a thing? Probably because Aquarius has a hard time merging their identity in with the rest of society. They are forever the one who marches to the beat of their own drum, and their sexuality is no different. They really don't give a fuck what is appropriate or conventional in love making. They will do whatever strikes their fancy, and they will never stop surprising their partner. Aquarius is known as the sign of kink for good reason. They say strong aspects with Uranus/Eros, Uranus/Venus, Uranus/Mars in one's chart places this flavor of Aquarian experimentation in one's personality; lightening flashes of insight and curiosity.

So here we go, punks. Get ready for things to get weird.

For Eros ingress Aquarius, I pulled The Moon crossed by The Queen of Wands and the runes Inguz and Sowillo. DAMN. Just DAMN. The runes line up perfectly with each card. Inguz is the rune people refer to as "the seed." He is deep rooted potentiality. Orgasm waiting to happen. Aquarius is here, bringing us the waters to get drunk on some strange love. The moon says the stuff in the back of our head, the stuff we fantasize and dream about, wants to come out and play. The moon is shy, blushing as she hears the whispers of her mind. Inguz says that this build up can only last so long before the release. He also tells us that distance is needed to build this potential energy. Aquarius, the sign of distance (AKA voyeuristic haha), knows this process all too well. She will prod and tease you in all the places where she knows you can't touch her (like work, school, your parent's house) until you have no choice but to take her in the back of the car, at noon, on the side of the road somewhere. And that's just the way she likes it.

The moon being crossed by the Queen of Wands tells us that the only thing holding any of this back is our inability to accept the strange paradoxes in life and just flow with it. Let yourself get turned on by the tension between the paradox (mmm tension). We need to embrace the rune Sowillo (the sun) and the optimism of this Queen of Fire. She is a sexy woman who takes what she wants, uses her magick without discretion, and doesn't apologize for her self expression. Our mind wants to escape, to let loose and let the Aquarian interests out to play. The built up potentiality is killing us, and this weekend's sensual Moon in Taurus sure didn't help.

Mars and Venus are about to square, the sexual tension will only get worse. This cross is telling us to let it out to play before some fire damage is done. The Queen of Wands is water in fire, and she is pure unadulterated feminine sexuality. She is the fire that will also drown you. Quite the paradox indeed. She is represented by the black cat, and those of you who know Egyptian mythology will recognize the connection to the cat goddess of sexuality, Bastet. Queen of Wands has a very cat like sexuality. She will gracefully seduce you and dance around you until your passions explode into wild, creative fires (all this with a smirk on her face). Wands are a witch's way of projecting her magic into the world. The wands also represent sexuality and creativity. Channel those deep, watery, moon feelings into a playful sexuality. Don't take things too seriously. Aquarius gives us room to breathe. Her universal love allows for her lovers to be expressive in their own individual mode without judgement. Let your imagination run wild.  It seems this card and rune combination is telling us a lot of illumination, happiness, and new pathways will open up from our ability to express what we keep in.

This combination of cards and runes warns us not to repress, no matter the strange situations we might get ourselves in (no matter our fantasies). There are many ways to express sexuality. Don't knock it til you try it. Try it and knock it good.... Whatever gets you hot.

The Astrogeek: The great work. However you define that for yourself, NOW is the time to get out there and do it! You have planned long enough- now it is time to take those plans, and your vision for what your life could be at it very best, and bring them fully into reality.

Obviously this is not going to be easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. You will need to hustle. It is immensely difficult, and it will be an uphill climb every time. You will not get enough sleep, nor will you have free time or much fun to speak of. You will feel as though you are consumed by the work and your mission, and that you are spitting in the wind, the only one who actually gives a shit whether you succeed or fail.

Even with all of that, you keep going. Tired as you are, you are motivated, and exhilarated with every new step you take. The work is its own reward. You see, Vesta is a funny little asteroid- She rules things like your passion (not romantic passion, more like what you are passionate about, causes near and dear to your heart), devotion, and hope. In Taurus, the sign of momentum and bringing the formless into reality, it becomes time to turn that conceptual pet project into a truly licensed and trademarked venture.

This is very much an indicator that it is time to get serious. You need to put in the work, as its all about your great work here. Vesta ingress to Taurus?  Get your shit together.  Like, seriously, get your shit together.  All of the planets, minor and major, are preparing us for the catastrophe that is the Grand Cross.  It’s only a few months away, people, and Vesta is whipping us into shape.

You need to dedicate yourself to putting the pieces together and getting your weapons in line for the coming storm.  The reason you are not seeing the message, seeing what you need to do next, is because you aren’t disciplining your craft.  You need to funnel this Saggo energy (thanks Mars).  Yeah, it’s kinda hard because Saggo makes us erratic and all over the fucking place.  I get it.  But if you can put the Taurus blinders on and charge full speed ahead – dedicated as a motherfucker to hit X marks the spot – you will be duly rewarded.  You will get the seed planted that you need before the spring hits.

Sometimes, when we are talented at getting through life on little else but our wits, we forget that we could climb so much higher if we just practiced our craft more often.  Look, we’ve got this insane energy coming in from Mars, so channel that shit.  Yeah, sorry to say, THIS IS A TEST.  This is a sort of “initiatory rite.”  Yeah, you might have the talent to actually settle yourself into a plan – and even a good plan – but do you have the guts to actually carry it out?

For those of you who work ritual:  If you are working with Vesta, make sure that she is the final energy invoked in your ritual as she represents the highest ideal.  She needs us to keep our divine fire pure – “the purity of heart.”  Keep what you believe is your highest duty as just that.  Don’t muddle it with bullshit.  Keep your integrity.  Priestesses of Vesta who dirtied their purity were buried alive…  Morbid as it may sound, this is a direct metaphor for your life right now.  Keep your inner flame pure.  Don’t let it burn out.  Now is NOT the time.  Seriously, are you afraid of your dreams?  Stop being a coward.  Get out there.  Your greatest fear is also your greatest desire.  Imagine that nugget of love inside of you, that thing you call you biggest passion, being taken away by the eroding waters of time.  You do not want that.  Poise your intentions toward what really matters to you – what you find to be your DUTY in this lifetime, and you will get through this like the fucking warrior you are.

TNO Watch: Orcus

Allow me to announce the triumphant return of the TNO Watch!

For those who aren't aware, we have far more than just the main 8 planets in our solar system: There are actually hundreds of thousands of bodies that we know of, and more are being discovered daily. Some of the most interesting ones are minor planets out past Neptune, given the designation Trans-Neptunian Objects, or TNOs.

And boy, do I have a good one to talk about today...

The Astronomy: Orcus is in the Kuiper belt, and has a large moon- Vanth. He is a plutino, locked in a 2:3 resonance with Neptune, extremely similar to Pluto's orbit,except that it is constrained to always be in the opposite phase of its orbit from Pluto: Orcus is at aphelion when Pluto is at perihelion and vice versa. Moreover, the aphelion of Orcus's orbit points in nearly the opposite direction from Pluto's, although the eccentricities and inclinations are similar. Because of these similarities and contrasts, along with its large moon Vanth that recalls Pluto's large moon Charon, Orcus has been regarded as the anti-Pluto. This was a major consideration in selecting its name, as the deity Orcus was the Etruscan equivalent of the Roman Pluto, and later became an alternate name for Pluto.

The Mythology: Orcus was a god of the underworld, the punisher of broken oaths in Italic and Roman mythology. As with Hades, the name of the god was also used for the underworld itself. Orcus was portrayed in paintings in Etruscan tombs as a hairy, bearded giant.  Orcus was chiefly worshiped in rural areas; he had no official cult in the cities. This remoteness allowed for him to survive in the countryside long after the more prevalent gods had ceased to be worshiped. He survived as a folk figure into the Middle Ages, and aspects of his worship were transmuted into the wild man festivals held in rural parts of Europe through modern times.

The Astrology: Since Orcus was only recently discovered, his astrological impact is still being studied by those of us who get off on this sort of thing. Still, from what we know we can glean a few things about how he works. He is a facet of the Underworld, much like Pluto; but unlike our favorite emo planet, Orcus is concerned more with the life-death-rebirth cycle than outright power and death. Orcus is the decomposition of living matter to become fertilizer or compost, enriching the soil so that it may bear fruit again next year. Orcus is fecundity, the knowledge that nothing ever truly dies, he is the law of conservation of matter.

Also interesting is his moon, Vanth, who I think has just as much import as the big guy does. Vanth is concerned with the passage of souls from the world of the living to the world of the dead: She is a psychopomp, being able to get in and out of hell as she chooses. Therefore, Orcus can be seen in that light as well, helping transition to the next stages in our life, helping us grow. Orcus is also the God of Oaths, so we find a connection to Pluto- Oaths can be seen as a pledge, or commitment of power, and Orcus has power over these, enforcing fairness and coming down HARD on those who cheat others, because in his eyes, they are cheating him!

Allow me to reintroduce myself- I am Helios, aka the Astrogeek, and I am Minor Planet Astrologer extraordinaire. I completely understand how you may have forgotten this, as I haven't exactly been focusing on those fascinating facets lately. Well that ends today.

Juno, Queen of everything, ruler of relationships and being the unquestioned Empress, outranking everyone but her consort and the power behind the throne, is currently in Scorpio, descending into the underworld with the rest of the common folk. She is a refugee just like us at the moment, with her empire under siege.

So what is a Queen to do when she loses everything? Is she still a queen without her crown?

Damn straight she is.

That will be the lesson of this transit-Discovering who you are with all extraneous bullshit stripped away. Everything that you cling so hard to protect, the details of your life that you use as a crutch to frame your concept of who you are, is up on the chopping block; It will be ripped away from you. At that point you will have a choice- Crumble under the weight of the loss, or rise up, naked and unafraid. That choice will be yours, and yours alone, to make.

This is also an immense gift. The best part of this is that it is a Scorpio transit, so the end result is that you will be unburdened. You have been collecting unnecessary people in your life, and one by one they will slip through your fingers. This is a life preserver that the cosmos is flinging your way. Cling to your own company, and refuse to allow anyone to lessen you.

I'm SO EXCITED about my first minor planet report.  And it's Juno!  What do I know about Juno?  Mostly that she had to deal with Jupiter's drunk ass (sorry, celestial daddy, please send money, k thanks xD).  So what's the lesson, Juno?  What are you trying to say to us in this retrograde you are making through lustful Scorpio?

We're holding ourselves back from happiness.  It's true.  You may try and fight me on that one, but that simple statement is the truth.  The lesson continues, and the stars seem to be expressing an urgent message to REALIZE what resources you have been given.  Please see what you have before it is taken or leaves.  Are you afraid that it wont be perfect?  Unfortunately, the idea of perfection is exactly what is holding us back from the REAL GOOD stuff.

What makes us great, what sets us a part from the pack, is the ability to utilize the world as a tool to get what we want.  Scorpio asks us - what do you DESIRE?  And once Scorpio desires something, she doesn't let go until she has it.  Internalize.  Retrogrades are retreats within.  Knowing what you want is as simple as meditating, listening to the expressions of your heart.

Fair warning y'all- It's a dredge moon. Anything and everything that you thought that you were done with and over is fair game right now- It all can rise to the top, just like cream or pond scum. No, you will not have control over what comes up and when, but you are in control of how you react to it. You can choose to surf the waves or let them drag you down- And im sorry to say that more often than not, they will pull you under. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as you will in fact resurface- In the underworld. That's right heroes and heretics, we're heading back to Hell!

At least we know the territory. That is very much the feel of this- we've become almost jaded to this trip, with how often we have gone in and out of it in the last few years. This trip would have killed us not two years ago, but now? Now we look forward to it, a chance to learn new lessons and catch up with old friends (or enemies, depending on your friends!). I'd also like to note that Pluto is nearly done with his sojourn in Cap (and so is Uranus, with Aries! When they connect in late Taurus-Cap, moving into Gemini-Aqua? LORDT IT WILL BE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORLD), sure he still has a few years to go, but we have definitely hit our stride with it, and it is on the downswing. That's not to say that our biggest fight isn't ahead of us, however... (more on that when we hit Aries season!)

The past few days have been a dream. We are hearing a sort of rumbling ahead, like a waterfall, calling us into the gaping maw of a larger body of water. The tributaries of Aquarius are leading us into the collective will of Pisces. The gods have turned away. Either something has a hold of their attention, or they are waiting to see what we can do without their guidance. I get a sense of an opening in the sky overhead, reminding us that we are the manifesters of everything around us. We have chosen this. We have manifested this destiny that is throttling our way. Piscean Neptunian energy is here, and Virgo's Mercurial energy is making this a time of many messages (the fish themselves are a symbol of the messenger). Pay attention. People will say things at just the perfect moment. Don’t hesitate to act on their insights. This is dream time. We are all connected to each other – just like the two Piscean fishes are forever connected to one another.    

The Sun and Moon- Alright, so this is a terrible configuration. I loathe it, this entire chart. None of the planets are speaking to each other, and nothing is getting done. Each is serving their own interests instead of uniting towards a common goal. However, there really isn't any enmity in this chart- They are all just off doing their own thing, preoccupied with their own goals and motivations. Gamers will recognize it as a grand trading quest- where each NPC has something that another NPC wants, and fulfilling all of their separate desires gives you what you need to progress to the next step, and the next, and so on until you reach your goal; whether that be the end of a quest, an amazing endgame weapon, or something of that nature. No matter what, its worth it in the end, even if its a pain and involves a lot of backtracking.

Morrigan Says: For the Sun in Pisces, I pulled the Knight of Pentacles. This isn't a very happy card for Pisces, but it is a steadfast card for the sun. You have to get to work right now, but you also have to meld this work with the dreams of Pisces or else you will become bored and stagnant. This knight gives us the energy and determination to accomplish our goals, but learn his lesson and whistle while you work. Thank our lucky stars for this influence or all of this zany creative fire would get lost without some sort of structure to move us along. What we can count on is the constant vision, THE SUN, the thing we aspire to become, to lead the way. This knight also represents restlessness and accidental overlookings. Let yourself be restless with your lot in life. Flow like a river into your dreams. You honestly have all of the abilities you need so quit wasting them on working for bullshit. If you MUST work for bullshit in order to manifest your dreams, find a way to bring that Pisces creativity into your work. Each task, no matter how repetitive it may seem, is actually a brand new opportunity. Don’t overlook inspiration because of repetition. Look at things a little differently. Inspiration can come in the weirdest ways - even just using an object in a slightly different way while doing the same task. This card tells us to work, but don't be so rigid that you kill your dreams while working. Work FOR something. Manifest destiny. For the full moon in Virgo, I pulled the 7 of pentacles. I heard some weird stuff about butterflies recently. Apparently caterpillars become absolute goo within their cocoon before they turn into beautiful, majestic insects. It may seem like you’re buried - unmoving - at the moment, with only darkness on the periphery, but you are about to come into your destiny. The moon is in Virgo, the harvester, and the 7 of pentacles card is represented by Taurus in Saturn. The wyrm caterpillar has no friggin clue that it's about to transform. Nor do we. The phoenix must face its fears and become totally consumed by the fire, settled to ashes, before it rises again. This is a time of manifestation. Your garden is about to bloom, and the moment that it blooms will bring a strange sort of confusion to you. What am I to do with this now? Do I have the strength to actually harvest this opportunity or will I panic and let the fruit rot? You CANNOT fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death. Mercury and Neptune- Good, finally a bit of cohesion- and who better to collaborate than the two rulers of this lunation? So... why doesn't this make me feel any better? Why does it feel like its almost more detrimental to have them working in sync? Well, for starters, they couldn't be more different- Night and day is an understatement to the amount that these two do not get along. One represents clarity, the other confusion; one sees the forest while the other gets lost in the trees. A strange thing happened as I pulled this card. I saw it, for an instant, in my mind's eye before I flipped the card around. Shit is psychic right now, and perhaps, in turning away, the gods have graciously given us some of their powers. We were created in their image, and deep down, we all know how to use these strange, wyrd Piscean abilities. This card really is all about the wyrd - the threads that connect everything in the universe. The spider that pulls it all together, hour glass on her thorax, waiting patiently in time for us to finally see the big picture. This is the flickering of hope, brushing insight that we see out of the corner of our eye. It is the way out of the thick forest we have relentlessly been fighting through. Seriously, follow your insights. All of the cards are pretty much SCREAMING for you to get moving and DO something. The Astrogeek does not condone decapitation, however he does acknowledge that it would be an extremely effective and satisfying way to solve his relationship woes). Keep moving on from these hoes, you have nothing to gain by retreading this old ground.

As such, he is getting a heavy boost, and is the driving force behind this lunation- The only one who is going to be able to get you out of this merde is YOU.  Jupiter- I'm almost growing bored with this one. I've never looked forward to a Libra transit so much in my life. Oh, my heroes and villans, is this going to be a good one! This is the pure, raw energy of Saggo in New Moon form! The trademark of this moon is the wild hope you feel, that you can overcome the obstacles that have stood in your way all year long; That this is YOUR moment, finally! And it is, don’t get me wrong: But it’s not quite what you think this time.

This moon is all about pushing your boundaries, getting to new horizons and exploring frontiers. These are not physical destinations, but rather mental and emotional depths. In fact, this has an extremely Piscean/ Scorptastic feel to it, BUT without the drama of either. All the best of those two, plus the best of Saggo, with none of the bad of the three? Can it be so? Well obviously not. If it was I wouldn’t be bothering to write this. What this is, is an opportunity; You are challenged to plumb the depths of your soul, face the most disgusting and foul parts you can find, and purge them from you. This you must do before 2016 (Aries Season), and the amazing thing is, it’s not even a Herculanean task right now! This moment in time is your best chance to do this, and the stars are on your side. You have the cosmos backing you, if you are only brave enough to jump into the darkness and do the dirty work. You have to make the choice.

The Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Chiron and Pluto- Wow. This is a veritable powder keg of Astro. Surprisingly, its also mostly dormant. I want you to change that. You are going to be the one to push that big red button and blast open a hole. Notice that these are the main players of the Cardinal Crisis. You are going to channel the last 7 years (Holy hell. It’s been 7 years.) into this short time period. Every lesson, every high, every defeat and every moment where you felt like the only logical course of action was either to go on a murderous rampage or turn that rage onto yourself; Every bit of it is going to be needed before 2016 is done. This is where you are going to step fully into yourself and your personal power.  Controlled demolition is the name of the game:  There is a thorn in your side that has been festering since Saturn in Scorpio- Right around 2013. You will get back home, I swear it to you on my life.

Venus, Saturn, and Neptune- These are the undercurrents of the astro, its driving force. Neptune is your ideal, where you want to be “When all this is over”; Venus is the unrefined, untamed, raging storm that is you now- Which means that the way to get from the one to the other is Saturn.
